The Big Debate

Trust me, I'm a Tory

Have the Tories really changed?

Ten years ago, The Conservative Party was 'The Nasty Party', dogged by the public's memories of callous Thatcherism. Now the election is less than a year away and the Tories are boasting a new public image.

Amid the political food fight in which leaders grappled each other to see who could propose the most cuts, many commentators and speculators uttered the words, “Same Old Conservatives, cuts in the public sector like we had in the 80s”,”Hammering the poor, jammy Oxford bastards”...etc, and it is certain that if the Tories come to power, then they won’t waste time in knifing public services. The Noughties will soon be gone!

Saying farewell to a cherished decade

This week, as I looked at my calendar, it suddenly made me think about how precious little time we have left of our beloved decade meaning the decadence of the Noughties will be confined to the scrapbooks of history and our diminishing booze-soaked memories of these years. In less than forty days, we'll be ushering in another new decade, and the 2010s will be all the rage. Where did the time go?
