York stumped by brilliant Briant

Women's cricket

 Another win for the Ladies' First Team supplied mainly by Nikki Briant's confident batting and bowling.

A depleted York team arrived with only 30 minutes before the game was meant to start but won the toss and elected to bowl. Leeds, who are sitting nicely at the top of the table with six points, were going in confident against a York team who had not won since 2007. Anna Gordon and Laura Burgess opened the batting plugging away smoothly with some very nice boundaries from both. Gordon, frustrated by all the wide balls, went for the only straight one but it hit her pad and she was out for an L.B.W finishing on 38. The next ball, Laura Burgess was caught behind off frustrating bowling for 45. At drinks Leeds were 102 for 2. The next batters were Green and Briant with the former taking the strike and hitting 7 runs quickly. Green was bowled by a ball that looked like it was going wide but astonishingly it swung back in.
