Bargain vs Blowout

Before this sporadic snow has given spring a chance to bloom, we

The Luella collection that took London Fashion Week by storm in September 2009 has filtrated through the upper echelons of fashionable society and elements of it are currently gracing the pages of boohoo.com.

Our favourite, at a startlingly low £20, this immaculate cut-out cocktail dress, has been recreated by the generous people behind the website with what can only be called some quite practical modifications.

Although the structured beauty of the original is undeniable, we can’t help but fall in love with the lighter and more flowing fabric of the boohoo copy which creates a softer silhouette, easier  to pull off and let’s face it, it’s tough enough making your way through a crowded dance floor, let alone if your dress is two feet wide.

The trick here is to keep it simple a la Luella; minimal jewellery, understated clutch and a pair of knock-out heels and you’ve got yourself a party outfit, however; espadrilles, a headband, and over-sized bag and sunglasses and you’ve got yourself a prêt-a-porter garden party look. Enjoy.

Tribal Prints and Bold Colours

The new ‘Out of Africa’ range from ASOS is looking promising, the colours are bold and the prints are big- it’s like wearing a safari. Inspired by all things African this range takes this summer’s tribal trend to the extreme. Covering the maxi dress, harem pants, playsuit and jumpsuit, this trend works for all occasions. With such exotic colours it’s also incredibly easy to make a real impact – just pair these patterned pieces with classic white tops and earthy accessories. The range is influenced by local African artisans and supports the Fair Trade movement. Luckily for us, the Africa range is not just an itchy, shapeless and hemp-dependant line, but actually consists of some really beautiful, well priced, clothes.
