Preview // Y Not festival 2012

With only a few days to go, Y-Not Festival (once again) promises an outstanding weekend – proving to all that it really is one of the best, most satisfying local festivals out there.

Taking place this coming weekend (3 – 5 August) in the idyllic Derbyshire countryside, Y-Not proves its growth once again, boasting a capacity of 8,000 and reaching ‘sold-out’ status for the fourth year running.

At £75 for a full weekend camping ticket, price is unfortunately part of the long list of increases Y-Not now possesses, but ticket holders are still managing to grab themselves a bargain with this years impressive line-up (which can be found linked below).

Friday boasts opening headliners The View, supported by the Pigeon Detectives – an unstoppable first day. Moving into Saturday, The Wombats can expect themselves to be one of the main attractions following their support provided by British Sea Power. And if this wasn’t enough for £75 a ticket, this years Y-Not faces its closure following sets from We Are Scientists after supporters The Subways.

It’s not just the music that ticket holders can be excited about this year. New bar and venue titled ‘The Ice Bucket’ gives festival goers the chance to throw themselves into a world of Elvis, leather jackets, quiffs and Fonzie lookalikes should they fancy a taste of rockabilly America across their weekend. Also, did someone say drive-in cinema?

And what would a Great British festival this year be without some sort of Olympic theme working its way through the weekend? There’s no need to feel down about missing the events down in London as this year ticket holders can visit the Olympic Fields – hosting a variety of events you can sign up to including volleyball, long jump, 100m sprint, tug of war (and many, many more!) Of course, winners of each event can celebrate their feat of strength with a complimentary bar tab.

And if this wasn’t enough to really spoil you, Y-Not once again promises to host a range of incredible food stands representing tastes from all around the world. These will be located all around the main arena alongside other amenities including a meditation tent, shisha tent and a healing tent to keep you occupied between the many great bands the festival has to offer this year.

With all this in mind it seems Y-Not Festival 2012 is, essentially, 100% unmissable.
