Preview: Sleep to play Stylus

Sleep will return to the UK this May, appearing alongside Slayer and Melvins amongst others at the London I’ll Be Your Mirror Festival. The band have also announced dates in Glasgow and Leeds, as well as a new remastered re-issue of their classic Dopesmoker LP.

Sleep’s Al Cisneros wanted to breathe some new life into the old LP, Dopesmoker, enlisting the help of Southern Lord to do so. Southern Lord was ecstatic about taking the reigns for the project that has been touted as one of the most important recordings in the history of heavy metal. The re-issue features brand new artwork by long time Sleep artist Arik Roper, and remastering by Ashes Rise guitarist Brad Boatright. Southern Lord’s vision was to enhance the original recording without changing it drastically. He has made an epic opus sound invigorated and more powerful with renewed clarity. Miraculously, the band have enthusiastically approved his work.

Sleep will play Stylus at the Leeds University Union on 24th May.
