Lads’ mags to face your vote
The controversial idea to ban ‘lads’ mags’ in the Union will face a campus wide vote.
A decision could not be made on the idea that planned to stamp out sexualised images at the packed out ‘Better Union Forum’ last night, triggering a referendum that will take place between 10am on Monday May 14 and 4pm Thursday 17.
Here’s Harriet Rankin, the LUU Welfare Officer, talking about her idea…
Ideas passed were the change of title for the Communications and Internal Affairs Officer to ‘Union Affairs Officer’, a decrease in the price of non-alcoholic drinks in the Union bars, a bid for the cash office to use an online banking system and an idea to stock FSC and MSC (forest and marine stewardship council) products to support ethical trade.
The idea to make improvements to the outside area of Old Bar will be discussed in October.
To vote on the ideas going to referendum, go to http://www.leedsuniversityunion.org.uk/ between the 14-17th of May
