To help soundtrack your house party, here are five seriously huge classics, which are sure to set the atmosphere off no matter what kind of party you are having. For the complete Music playlist, visit the leedsstudent.org website for a link.
1. Simon Says – Pharoahe Monch
An obvious choice perhaps, but it simply has to be done. The huge beat and that infamous Godzilla will remind everyone that they came to get down. Even if Monch’s lyrics are a little questionable…
2. Woman Trouble – Artful Dodger feat. Craig David
Apart from being ingeniously funny, this one takes you back to the golden days of UK garage, and everyone knows garage is ‘so hot right now’.
3. Why – Carly Simon
Everyone like a cheesy 80s classic at a house party, but this one’s got deeper vibes than most. Sweet reggae melodies and bittersweet lyrics, it manages to be lovely, tacky and danceable all at the same time.
4. Murder She Wrote – Chaka Demus and Pliers
This is for when the night starts to get a little dirty. Classic regge riddims to get your hips swinging. Also prone to getting everyone trying to do an Jamaican accent, which is always fun.
5. Never Too Much – Luther Vandross
Unless you’re really brave you might want to leave this one for when the party starts to wind down, but everyone knows they love it really. Super smooth r’n'b vocals, a singalong chorus and mad guitars. Too much? Never….
