THEATRE – Celebration

15/03 – 16/03

Nick Coupe’s production of Harold Pinter’s restaurant comedy leaves Callum Gore wanting seconds.

Tonight I saw Pinter’s last play served up by some of the finest performers on campus. The 50-minute bite-sized production of Pinter’s Celebration taking place in such an intimate setting – the Michael Sadler Building’s Banham Theatre – meant each facial expression in this brutally naturalistic piece needed subtlety. And the cast delivered it. And when you’re not set on edge by the simmering animosity between the three sets of couples, you’ll be chuckling to yet another “interjection” from Nick Coupe’s gentle dead-pan waiter. They’re dining once more tonight (16th March) – join them.
